As you can see. the digging is relatively easy. Basic tools used around the garden are the best, with the possible addition of a hammer and chisel if larger plates of crystals are desired. Wear gloves and long pants, quartz is sharp. |

While it could take a couple hours or so to dig a hole as deep as this, it is not necessary to find smaller fist sized plates of crystals |

This closeup picture shows how the crystals are usually encapsulated in either mud or a very sticky clay. A lot of the time you will not see the total beauty of your find until you get it home and wash it. |
